NewTracks' role in the project:
-
Design and production of enclosures: Development of robust and aesthetically appealing enclosures that harmonize with the Airport Express Train´s interior.
-
User-friendliness: Ensuring easy access for passengers to scan their boarding passes and print baggage tags within seconds.
-
Serviceability: Implementing solutions for quick replacement of tag rolls and easy maintenance for train staff.
-
Adaptation to different train models: Designing flexible mounting mechanisms suitable for both older and newer train sets.
Design focus
We emphasized compliance with the Airport Express Trains´ design manual to ensure seamless integration within the trains. The front panel is made of 6 mm aluminum with rounded edges, sandblasted and gray anodized for a modern and durable appearance.
The enclosures are designed to withstand vibrations and movement during train operation, featuring an additional safety lock inspired by car hood mechanisms to prevent accidental opening and pinch injuries.
Implemantation
FLYTAG was installed in all Airport Express Train carriages during the autumn of 2021. Each carriage is equipped with one FLYTAG unit placed in the luggage rack near the entrance door, ensuring easy access for passengers.
The solution supports all major Norwegian airlines, as well as several international carriers such as Lufthansa, KLM, and Air France. By scanning their boarding pass, passengers can print their baggage tag on board and proceed directly to bag drop upon arrival at the airport — significantly streamlining the travel process.
We are proud to have contributed to enhancing the travel experience for the Airport Express Train passengers through the development of FLYTAG, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with BB Computerteknikk AS and the Airport Express Train on future projects.
