Chinese New Year 2021

Updated: Jan 17, 2022

In connection with Chinese New Year, we must expect a longer delivery time in February. We recommend our customers to schedule orders for delivery well in advance to avoid delays.

Friday, February 12, 2021 is Chinese New Year

This is the biggest holiday in China and 11-17. February is public holidays.

However, most factories are closed for 3-4 weeks in connection with the New Year celebrations. This is comparable to our joint holiday, so in the period 8 to 26 February (week 6-8) you can not plan deliveries. In the weeks before the Chinese New Year, we must expect longer lead times and greater pressure on transport. We therefore recommend our customers to plan this into their production and order goods well in advance of China taking a holiday.

What is Chinese New Year?

Chinese New Year is also called Spring Festival and defines the transition from winter to spring. Spring rolls, which is commonly eaten also in the West, is a typical dish in the celebration.

The date of the Chinese New Year varies with the lunar phases. On New Year’s Eve, the moon is new, ie completely black, and New Year’s Eve falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice.

2021 – The year of the bull

The Chinese calendar is divided into 12-year cycles, where each year is associated with an animal. In 2021 we leave the year of the rat and enter the year of the bull. According to Chinese tradition, the bull’s most important characteristics are that it is hardworking, intelligent, reliable and requires no praise for its work. People born this year are supposed to share these traits.

In the same way, we are all expected to bring out these qualities in the coming year. One can call it old superstition, or simply realize that the coming year – like all other years – will require us to be hardworking, determined and reliable, without expecting much praise for this 🙂
