Chinese New Year: Remember to Plan Ahead

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the biggest and most important holiday in China. The celebration marks the start of the new year in the Chinese lunar calendar and will take place between January 14 and February 11 this year.

In 2025, we will enter the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac, which symbolizes wisdom, intelligence, and mystery. But what does this mean for those of us who produce in China, and how can we best prepare?

What Happens During Chinese New Year?

During Chinese New Year, which lasts about two weeks, many factories in China close for 3-4 weeks. This year, closures will occur between January 14 and February 11, leading to potential delays in production and deliveries. Factories close to allow workers time to return to their families, and many employees use this period to celebrate the holiday and take part in traditional festivals.

This can be compared to our summer vacation period – a time when everything slows down, and many operations come to a halt. For those with orders or production plans, it’s crucial to plan well in advance to avoid unnecessary delays.
